Eric has been actively engaged in general and commercial litigation
practice for 23 years. Eric's primary areas of legal practice include real estate law, banking, bankruptcy law, municipal corporation law, family law, business
and civil litigation.
Eric is a member of the Akron and Medina Bar Associations. He is
currently a member of the Ohio Bar Association and its Corporate
Counsel, Litigation and Real Property Law Sections. Eric is a member
of the American Bar Association. Eric is also a member of the American
Trial Lawyers Association and its Commercial Litigation and Small
Office Practice Sections. Eric has received a performance rating
"B" (from high to very high legal ability rating) and
"V" (very high ethical standards rating) from Martindale-Hubbell
Law Directory established by confidential opinions from members
of the Bar. Eric has recieved an"excellent"
ranking (score:8.9) by an attorney and legal service rating web site (Avvo) in
the areas of experience,industrial recognition, and professional conduct.
Eric has been recognized as one of Ohio Super Lawyers™ in 2006,2007,2008 as voted by his peers and published in Cincinnati Magazine. Eric was recognized as a Top Lawyer in Greater Akron in the practice areas of bankruptcy law and family law by Akron Life & Leisure Magazine in February 2009.
Eric was admitted to practice in the State of Ohio in 1989 and
the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio (1990), U.S.
Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit (1993), and the U.S. Supreme Court
Eric is a graduate of Mount Union College (B.A., 1982), with a
concentration in history and political science; the Ohio State University (M.A., 1984), concentrating in the area of local and state government;
and the Ohio Northern University, Claude W. Pettit College of Law
(J.D., 1987). He worked as a non-legal intern for a ranking Ohio
State Senator while pursuing his graduate studies in Columbus, Ohio.
While at Ohio Northern University, Eric was a member of Phi Alpha
Delta legal fraternal society and was the recipient of the 1987
U.S. Law Week Award.
As a community servant, Eric has contributed
charitable services to the Northeast Ohio Chapter of ALS Association by participating in the awareness program to strike out Lou Gehrig's
Disease. Eric is a member of the Community Associations Institute which is a national organization concerning the governance and management of community associations such as condominiums, homeowner associations, cooperatives and planned unit developments.
Eric was recognized by the Board of Trustees of the ALS Association Ohio Chapter and presented with the 2005 Vision Award. The award recognizes individuals who, through their own initiative, keep ALS advocacy in the public arena. Eric’s charitable work in support of the Akron Walk to D’Feet ALS in 2005 was published in the December 2005 edition of Akron Life & Leisure Magazine.
Eric is active in the Copley local primary schools and
coaches youth basketball and baseball. Eric and his wife Nancy have
two children, Eric W. and Sarah A., and reside in Fairlawn, Ohio.

- Representation of Ohio-based national distributor of beauty
and barber supplies, with annual sales in excess of $80 million
consisting of 264 wholesale and retail stores throughout the U.S.
- Representation of homeowner and condominium associations, drafting
of by-laws, declarations, rules and regulations and enforcement
of governing documents.
- Representation of commercial banks and savings and loan associations
in collection, garnishment, attachment, foreclosure, bankruptcy
proceedings, defense of lender liability claims.
- Representation of general aviation airport owner in commercial

concealment, fraud, breach of contract issues relative to residential
and commercial transactions.
- Represented municipality, utility provider, landlord and unsecured creditor in relation to a local steam plant operator in highly contested Chapter 11 bankruptcy case concerning issues related to the assumption of a operating lease, negotiating and contesting utility orders, defending turnover actions, contesting adequacy of disclosure statements, objecting to the confirmation of proposed plans of reorganization, defending contested proofs of claim and initiating and defending appeals.
